Essay Topic: Discuss the relationship between the global health challenge of malaria and the environmental determinant of climate change.

The aim of this task is to enable you to show your understanding of how environmental issues impact on health. To do this, you will examine the global health challenge of malaria with the related environmental determinant of climate change.

Write a short (600 word) essay. Your essay is expected to have an introduction, body and conclusion, and all key points must be supported by relevant evidence from books/journals or credible reports. Use APA7^th ed. referencing for your in-text referencing and reference list. You should use at least 6 references.

Suggested essay structure:

Introduction: Preamble linking broader picture to topic. State the purpose of the essay. Present key topics to be discussed in essay. State overall argument of essay (1 paragraph – 75 to 100 words)

Body of the essay:

• Clearly explain the health challenge of Malaria (about 1 paragraph – 100 to 150 words)
  • g. define it, transmission, prevalence, where, who suffers, identify key determinants
• Clearly explain the environmental determinant of climate change (about 1 paragraph – 100 to 150 words)
  • g. define it, where it is happening, why, what it means in terms of all disease/health, link to contagious diseases/health issues
• Discuss the link between malaria and climate change (about 1 paragraphs – 100 to 150 words)
  • g. How and why important, locations, history, vulnerable populations

Conclusion: Restates the topic of essay. Sums up key points made (NB: do not introduce new information). Finishes with sentence linking topic to the broader picture (1 paragraph – 75 to 100 words)
