Digital Identity

Thinking back on this week’s reading, how do you feel the digital media we engage with affect one’s sense of identity? Miller suggests that identities are constructed through relationships and discourses, are specific to particular places and times, change within different contexts and that people can have multiple, sometimes contradictory identities (204). How do different ways of profile-building, self and selfie-imaging, communicating, and connecting online support or contradict this way of thinking about identity? Or as Miller puts it at the end of this chapter, “How much of what or who we are is bound up in what we do and where we are in relation to other things, technologies, ideas and people?” (227).
