The study of political science examines the power of political institutions and explains human behavior. Based on your readings and our class discussions, please write an eight page essay that addresses how any political science theory explains the current state of power of a political institution or political actor who presently holds an office. Perhaps you could examine the current state of our democracy by discussing Dahl’s assertion regarding the undemocratic elements of our Constitution. Perhaps you could analyze the power of President Trump using the theory of Neustadt’s presidential power. You may also explain how justices of the US Supreme Court render decisions by examining a model of judicial decision making (legal, attitudinal, or strategic). You may discuss any of the aforementioned theories or select another theory of your own choosing. However, you must use a political science theory. You may find particularly useful the assigned readings we discussed from Kollman’s Readings in American Politics
