  • Abstract

Type your abstract here. This should not be more than one page in length. The abstract should allow the reader who is unfamiliar with the work to gain a swift and accurate impression of what the project is about, how it arose and what has been achieved.

. An abstract should have the following five pieces:

  • This is where you describe the purpose for doing your project or invention. Why should anyone care about the work you did? You have to tell them why.
  • Problem Statement. Identify the problem you will be solving or the hypothesis you will investigate.
  • Procedures. What is your approach for investigating the problem? Don’t go into detail about materials unless they were critical to your success. Describe the most important steps in performing your design project.
  • Results. What answer did you obtain? Be specific and use numbers to describe your results. Do not use vague terms like “most” or “some.”
  • Conclusions. State what your project or invention contributes to the field you worked in. Did you meet your objectives? For an engineering project state whether you met your design criteria.

Insert your contents page here

table of contents, usually headed simply “Contents” and abbreviated informally as TOC, is a list, usually found on a page before the start of a written work, of its chapter or section titles or brief descriptions with their commencing page numbers.

To insert a table of contents, follow these steps:

  1. Start Word, and then open your document.
  2. Click an empty paragraph where you want to insert the TOC.
  3. On the Insert menu, point to Reference, and then click Index and Tables.
  4. In the Index and Tablesdialog box, select the options that you want to apply to your TOC, and then click OK.

  • Introduction

Briefly review and update the material from your Abstract. Describe the function, and show the block diagram of your design. Describe briefly the blocks into which the project has been divided. Give the performance requirements of each component. Show that you understand the key factors in the performance of your project.

( 2- 3 pages)

  • Background Research:

This should be a thorough and extensive discussion of all you have learned about the general background of the problem. This includes, discussion of existing designs and their limitations, results of surveys, limited calculations to investigate feasibility, literature searches etc. In short, you will report what you have learned about the relevant topics of concern. The background research is necessary to fully define and understand the problem, after which it is possible to restate the goal in a more reasonable and realistic way than in the original problem statement.

( 2- 3 pages)

  • Goal and Objectives:

The goal is a clear, concise restatement of the problem based on the background research phase. The objectives are clear and concise statements of what is required to accomplish the goal. ( 2 pages)

  • Design Process

This section must contain the exact steps of the design process. Each step should have its own sub-section. It must contain the following sections:

  1. Problem Statement
  2. Functional Specifications
  3. Proposed Designs
  4. Analysis of Final Design
  5. Testing and Implementation of Final Design
  6. BOM and cost Analysis

(5 -10 pages)

  • Discussions and Conclusions

Review your work and suggest improvements and ideas about what you could have done differently. Make suggestions for future improvements. Cover aspects of your project that your team did not have the time or resources to accomplish. – Provide a general overview of the work and summarize the significant contributions.

( 2-3 pages )

  • References:

This section will contain every reference that you cited in your report. Each reference must contain the authors, title, publisher, and publication date.

Report Format:

  • Paper : The entire report must be submitted on A4 size paper
  • Justification: Right and left margins should be justified (giving a straight edge to the text on both sides).
  • Font size: Use a Times New Roman or similar style font, point size 12 for most of the document. Pagination: The report must carry sequential pagination throughout, including appendices. The page number should be on the top right margin of each page. The title page is counted in the numbering, but bears no page number.
  • Line Spacing: The text of the document should be double-spaced.
  • Headings and Legends: Section and subsection headings should be emboldened. Major Headings should be printed in point size 14. Legends (these are the figure and table identifications) should be emboldened and centered, but not enlarged.
