Photo Assignment

Below are the instructions for this essay assignment. I will be adding my responses with the questions.

In a 2-3 page Response Essay, discuss the process of selecting the building or landscape and taking the actual photograph. Beyond the details of the image itself, consider the process of capturing that image, and, ultimately, evaluating its greater value for your audience.

Consider a number of questions:

Why did you select this subject for your photo? This is an image of the sky that I took a few days ago when I was walking near the Parking Facility in the evening. I am using this photo for this assignment because I am a sky lover. No matter how much pain there is in my life when I look up at the sky for a moment, that elusive sky pulls all my sorrows into its bosom. Because the sky has a unique beauty. The fascination of that beauty overwhelms my unhappy soul. The true beauty of the sky is revealed in the evening. When I saw the combination of purple, pink, and blue shades, I immediately took a picture of it. The enchanting beauty that emerges as the seven colors of the setting sun spread in the western sky in the evening. There is no end to the beauty of this beautiful sky.

When you consider how your audience sees the image, what do you want the photo to communicate?

What do you think people focus on? I want people to focus on the calmness of sky, how beautiful it is.

What is the most compelling aspect of this location? When I’m walking near this parking lot, I can see the whole sky, and feel it.

What elements of photographic composition are present? Identify them and elaborate.

How does this image speak to your evolving relationship with the college? My college life is full of stress. So, whenever I feel stressed I look up on the sky, and and helps me feel relax.

NOW I WROTE THE ESSAY BUT I RECEIVED FEEDBACKS FROM THE TEACHER.

1. The format is incorrect

2.The opening paragraph and concluding paragraph lack specific detail. This makes it difficult for the reader to follow you.

3. The discussion of the photo is a bit abstract. I would sharpen the paragraph. Also be certain to apply the rules of composition thoroughly to the image.

Granted, the image itself is a bit abstract. This makes the discussion a bit more challenging., Take your time.

4. Analysis is vague. Lacks clarifying details.

5. Ideas, sentences, paragraphs are organized, but show lapses in coherent sequence of thought. Claims/Statements not developed in detail

6. Paragraphs lack details

7. Paragraphs lack analysis. Paragraphs lack conclusion. Writing does not anticipate audience questions

8. Observations lack analysis .Analysis lacks clarifying details

9. Sharpen sentences.

Sharpen paragraphs (Cut it in half)

10. Assignment lacks discussion. Assignment lacks conclusion.

11. Attempted connections beyond thesis are tenuous
