A literature review summarizes previously established research. The purpose of literature reviews is to provide readers with the vast knowledge, ideas, and thoughts surrounding a specific topic. It also compares, contrasts, and connects the identified findings from previous research. A literature review provides the context of what is currently known about a particular topic, in order to set the stage and establish a foundation for the topic or question you are interested in. Often, literature reviews create an argument of why it is important to study the specified topic.
