Analysing a Sustainable Business

1) Using both the Five Capitals and the Circular Economy models of sustainability
evaluation (as per Units 1.1. and 1.2), report on what you found from your evaluation by
answering these two questions: [550 words]
1.1.) To what extent does Unilever refer to any of the Five Capitals, and/ or to the concepts
of the Circular Economy, and
1.2.) If the report does refer to such concepts, then how are these concepts articulated and
embedded in the corporate strategy? Please use specific illustrations.
To satisfy this objective, first please briefly summarise each of the two models in the
form of a table (the contents of which are excluded from the word count) before
referring to them in your report.
2) Specify what sections (and/ or pages) you looked at in the Unilever documentation and
why you chose those sections/ pages to progress your evaluation. What is expected is a
short statement about your reasoning for selecting the pages/ sections of the report you did
and how doing so helped advance your evaluation of Unilever’s sustainability. [200 words]
3) Develop a short set of recommendations, emphasising only three of the most important
and pivotal opportunities that Unilever could adopt to improve its corporate sustainability.
Link these opportunities to at least three of the seventeen SDGs explaining how adopting
these recommendations would help further the objectives of these Development Goals. If
you think that Unilever already meets the SDGs, give evidence for this. [750 words]
