Literature Synopses
This semester, we will be reading 10 papers from peer-reviewed journals. With each paper, you will write a short (half page to full page) summary. In this summary, briefly describe: • the geologic problem the authors were trying to address and the hypothesis they were attempting to test, • the approach (methods, data, etc.) the authors took to address this problem, • the conclusions they drew, and how the supporting evidence was used to make those conclusions, • the broader implications of the study (e.g., how can the results of this study be applied to other regions of the world? Are these results revolutionary? Could they change our way of thinking about some aspect of tectonics?
