Analysis of Gail Tsukiyama’s novel The Samurai’s Garden

Write a five-page analysis of Gail Tsukiyama’s novel The Samurai’s Garden. Using examples and quotes from her novel, you can focus on any combination of the following as your thesis statement: theme(s), definition, symbols/analogies, character(s), comparison/contrast, classification/ division. Remember, all thesis support/examples/evidence must come from the novel. You will need at least six cited quotes and/or paraphrases from Tsukiyama’s book and one Work Cited provided below. Again, you are allowed two extra entries on your Works Cited for +2 bonus each (+4 max). Of course, each entry must be mentioned somewhere in your essay.
A complete typed essay is due with a Work Cited no later than 9am on Tuesday, December 1st (+150 possible). All rewrites are due at that time also. However, if you have completed your essay earlier, have proofread it carefully, you may submit your completed essay before 9am on Monday, November 30th, for +5 bonus points. Follow guidelines demonstrated in this handout (top left heading; all type double spaced) or five points will be deducted.
