Chapter 6 – Discussion Topic Five: American Music

The United States has always been considered to be included in the Western European tradition. We are credited for developing jazz because of the African-American influence that culture has brought to this country. Now even jazz has begun to change with new world cultural influences. Since the United States of America is still a country of immigrants, we now have many new influences on all styles of American music. Do you see examples of this in our music today? What is your forecast for the future of American music?
