Some of the writers we have studied, including Lorraine Hansberry, James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, and Colson Whitehead focus on the ways in which societal pressures and social structures shape and in some case constrict individual experience. Select two of these writers– Lorraine Hansberry, James Baldwin, Audre Lorde, and Colson Whitehead. You are required to write about the pieces we have studied, and may also include a discussion of some of their other work. What social formation have these writers focused on in their fiction and/or nonfiction pieces, and perhaps in their public lives? Also, do the writers suggest that liberation from that particular social formation is possible and/or desirable? If so, how? What impact does their literature make in effecting social change in American society? This essay must be 1500 words minimum. Use Times New Roman 12-point font.
