Education and Work Experience

In the April of 2005 I completed my Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism Hotel and Travel Industry Management at Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila which is one of the most outstanding Universities in Manila.

I can say that my journey to achieve my dream of getting this degree is not an easy one. I have to work part time while studying to finish my degree without adding to the financial burden that my parents are already experiencing.

Right after my studies, I applied to different companies in the Philippines where I always get hired. Unfortunately, the salary that they offerwere not enough to help me and my parents financially, so I declined those opputunities.

As much as I wanted to stay in the Hotel and Tourism Industry which I really love, I accepted a job as an online casino dealer where the wage is higher which helped me support my parents and siblings.

After two years, I met a man who became my boyfriend and is working in the UAE and asked me to join him there. Thinking of the bigger oppurtunities that awaits me, I went. At that time, I was so eager to find a job immediately to still support my family in the Philippines, but the only job available is being an Administration Assistant so I took the offer and worked in that company but after three months it closed. I then found another oppurtunity and was again offered another Admin Assistant role. I can say that my Canadian Manager was very impressed about how diligent I am with my job. While working there, I got pregnant and my last tri-mester had been a difficult one so my husband decided that I quit and assured me that the needs of my family in the Philippines will be taken care of.

It’s been a long time since then, I now have two kids who are mature enough to take care of themselves with little supervision. I told my husband that I want to work again, in the Hospitality Industry this time. I told him that I’ve sacrificed a lot for my parents, siblings, him and my kids. Now I feel like its about time I choose to do the things that will not just give me the joy but also my fulfilment.

My husband has been working in a Government owned Cybersecurity company here in the UAE for the last 5 years now which had given us the oppurtunity to save money for my studies and other things. I am confident that his high compensation will be more than enough to support me with my studies along with our savings.

Plans after Study

Living in the UAE for the past 13 years now gave me the knowledge on how the Hotel and Tourism Industry highly supports the Economy of this country besides producing oil.

After my studies, I want to work in one of its prestigious hotels like Burj Khalifa, Burj Al Arab or the Emirates Palace which is a 7-star hotel where I can apply the skills and techniques I will learn that would be beneficial to the company I would be joining.

I’ve witnessed also how credentials affects the salary offers in the UAE and I know that finishing my studies in a Western country won’t just give me theleverage to get hired easilywith outstanding packages but also greater oppurtunities.It is my desire that you will grant my request to study inCanada and for that I will forever be grateful.
