Evolution of international system

Record a 3-minute video in which you directly respond to the following question: English School scholars present the evolution of the international system as the globalisation of international society, originating in Europe after Westphalia and expanding across the world through colonisation and eventual decolonisation. Critically evaluate this understanding.

In a 1000-word journal piece, offer a critical reflection on your answer. In both the video and the journal, you will not be able to cover everything. The journal is a chance to provide a justification/defence of your video, or to cover something that would not fit within it. What did you choose to include/exclude? What did you focus on, and what was less important to you (but may be to others)? What are some of the counter-arguments that might be offered to your response and how do you respond to those? C R I T E R I A The video and journal will be marked according to the following criteria (criteria sheet will also be available on Blackboard): 1. How well the student understands the question, and develops a coherent response. 2. The degree to which the student draws on information covered in the course to answer the question and in their journal. This includes course themes, concepts and key issues. 3. The level of comprehension of course themes, concepts and key issues. 4. The degree to which the student engages with materials they have read/watched/listened to during the course. 5. How well the response is organized. More specifically, we will expect you to engage with at least three of the topics discussed throughout the semester across both the video and journal, and employ some of the main concepts (empire, hierarchy, and hegemony) we’ve used.
