Premarket review and postmarket regulation of combination

Elsevier Science and Technology has proposed a reference book on “Combination drug delivery system as an effective therapy against various diseases” and I have agreed to serve as the Editor for this book.

The proposed book will focus on extrapolation of bioengineering tools in the domain of combination drug delivery approaches to control various diseases at different clinical stages of synergistic action, varying mechanism of action and suppressing drug resistance. Treatment with a combination of drugs is thought to work by the first drug killing mutants resistant to the second drug, while the second drug kills those resistant to the first drug. Combined treatment has been remarkably successful in preventing the emergence of resistance during treatment of various diseases. This success has led to the introduction of multi-drug treatment for various diseases such as leprosy, HIV infections, cancer etc. Considering the countless and vigorous efforts of academic/industrial groups devoted to the development of combination drug delivery approaches to control various diseases around the world, under the umbrella of a gloomy economic picture, this book will be referred by graduate students, early-career investigators, researchers working in the pharmaceutical industries and professors.
