Project 2

you will be choosing and reading one of the essays listed in Project 2 Guidelines (Articles and Essays). Your project will consist of a summary and analysis of the essay/article you choose, and a discussion of the material presented in the textbook.

You will find an abstract of all essays (Essay Titles and Abstracts) in the Content area from which you will select one for your Project 2 paper. This is found in the “Project 2 Guidelines” folder of Week 11 under Essays and Articles. After identifying the essay you will analyze, you should carefully read and consider the ideas and themes presented. Provide a summary/synopsis of the thesis of the essay and analyze the concepts it addresses. You should include a discussion of appropriate chapters from the textbook, supplemental readings, course materials, videos, and/or your Weekly Assignments as part of this analysis. Address in particular what the author/s is/are describing in terms of American culture and identity. What ideas seem most pertinent to the course themes and objectives? What did you find surprising and most worthy of attention? Your paper should be 4 – 5 pages in length/~1200-1500 words.
