Leadership Reaction

In this assignment, you will utilize the knowledge gained from the prior weeks about effective leadership and intentional communication in combination with the principles of transactional and transformational leadership to showcase leadership in action. As you have learned, both the words and actions of leaders are examined by those inside and outside an organization. For this assignment, you are to select a recent business or organizational calamity or crisis. You will assume the role of the CEO of the company and craft a 3- 5 minute speech or 2 page press release statement that will represent your first public remarks about the crisis. Your remarks should showcase your core values and leadership style. Examples of recent calamities or crises are 1. Boeing and the 737 Max crisis 2. College Admission Scandal 3. Protest of Sean Spicer being selected to be on Dancing with the Stars. (Disney is the Parent Company for ABC, which broadcasts Dancing with the Stars. What would your response be as the CEO of Disney? What are Disney’s core values?) Note: Issues do not have to be political or only occurred within the U.S. They should have occurred with the last 1-2 years. Please note that you do not have to use any of the examples provided, as they are merely a guide for clarity of the assignment. Your calamity or crisis should be a real life recent event; therefore, you should research the event. Your response also does not have to be the same as the actual CEO, because your leadership style may yield a different reaction.
