Paper 4: Research Article summary and reflection
Paper 4: Research Article summary and reflection
This writing assignment will provide an opportunity to apply your knowledge and make connections between Chapters 20 – 23.
Step 1: Choose a chapter (20 – 23) that you feel you do not understand as well as the others. To gain more knowledge and practice with applying the material you will then choose a topic from the list provided for your chosen chapter.
Chapter 20: infertility, hormone replacement therapy, menopause/andropause, impact of culture, SES, or education on health
Chapter 21: fluid vs crystallized intelligence, selective optimization with compensation, coping methods, impact of stress on aging
Chapter 22: personality, cultural differences in personality, changes in intimacy with aging, generativity
Chapter 23: ageism, theories of aging, centenarians
Step 2: Find at least two articles that discuss your topic. Here are a few things to keep in mind as you are looking for an article:
It should be from a peer-reviewed journal
The article should be published in 2013 or after (i.e., published within last 5 – 7 years)
Step 3: After you have read the articles, you will write a summary and reflection. I have provided several guides under the “Resources” tab on the left side of the menu.
