IDENTIFYING COMMUNITY RESOURCES AND ASSETS SURVEY

The focus on the needs or deficits of the community are great and vast. Every person and community have needs and deficits that ought to be attended to.

But it is also possible to focus on assets and strengths — emphasizing what the community does have, not what it doesn’t. Those assets and strengths can be used to meet those same community needs; they can improve community life (Inspired by Professor John McKnight, Co-founder of the ABCD Institute-DePaul University).

For this assignment, each student (or pair) will focus on identifying community assets and resources that show how children and families are supported and strengthened.

Review the Community Resource Information Lists Provided.   List 3 community resources or assets that interest you as a topic of research.  Be sure to choose one of interest.  Prioritize your choices; #1 as your first choice, #2 as your second choice and #3 as your third choice.
