Discussion about rumors

The introductory pages gave examples of several rumors that were spread for political gain but would not “die” even after evidence was presented that the rumors were untrue. Did any of those examples strike a chord with you? Have you been guilty of spreading rumors that you later found were untrue – perhaps something from the news or Internet or perhaps something in your personal experience? Finally, have any of the readings in this chapter changed your views about rumors – even just to the point of making you aware that everything you hear on the news or see on the Internet is not true?
