You must complete one writing assignment for this course.
A grading rubric along with complete detailed instructions is provided below to guide you.

Go to:
apa.org/news/psycport/ (Links to an external site.)
Click on “topics” and a list will appear.
Select ONE psychological disorder that is interesting to you.
Select ONE article that has enough information for you to write your paper.
Do not choose the first article you find. Be choosy. Look around. In order for you to write the last paragraph of this assignment “What I learned,” find an article with information that is interesting, and where you have learned something new.
You may also use your course textbook. However, you must include the chapter and page number where you found information used in your writing. And also cite the text book as a source.
You must submit a word document, not a link to your writing.
1)Research cited, Title of article must be provided. (Title to article must be provided or paper will not be graded, you can include this title in the introductory paragraph): 25 points

2)“Hyper link” to article must be provided (URL with turn blue to make it easy to access the link for grading). (I must be able to click/select the link (URL) and go directly to the article Hyper link must be provided, or paper will not be graded. Instructions found in Canvas.): 25 points.

3)Minimum length 350 words (initializing word count): 25 points

4)Proper mechanics, punctuation, sentence structure, double-spaced, capitalization, body of writing must be separated into paragraphs, no quotations, bullet-points or lists allowed: 25 points

*Sources cited page (citation page, last page of your paper if you use the textbook as a resource).

Example: (textbook citation you may use if you use your textbook for this assignment.)

*If the URL (hyperlinked) and the title of your research article are within the body of your writing, you are not required to include them in your sources or citation page.)

*You are not required to use MLA or APA format as long and you go by the guidelines listed here.

5)Minimum of 3 complete paragraphs with at least 5 sentences per paragraph. 25 points

1st paragraph – Introduce your topic
Introduces the psychological disorder you selected, along with the name/title of the article and the URL (hyperlinked) to the article.
Minimum of 5 complete sentences
2nd paragraph – present main ideas
Paraphrase the main ideas (or the main things you learned) from reading about the psychological disorder you selected. (In your own words. Do not use quotes or copy directly from the article.)
At least 5 complete sentences.
3rd paragraph – what did you learn? At least 5 complete sentences.
This paragraph has a separate grade. Information listed below.
6)What I Learned – 25 points

In this paragraph you are NOT summarizing what you read, nor are you drawing conclusions. You must write in first person about what your learned that was new to you, or that you found interesting. Minimum of 5 complete sentences.

Total points for this writing assignment – 150
(*Mechanics penalties 2 points each, up to 25 points deducted for errors)

Minimum/Maximum length 400-500 words (word count will be utilized).

Minimum 3 paragraphs. Do not plagiarize or points will be deducted. You must have at least 3 paragraphs. Introduction, main ideas, and what you learned. (Do not summarize or write an article conclusion. Write about what you learned.) Each paragraph must have at least 5 sentences.

Research cited in article present. Title must be provided or paper will not be graded. This can be included in the introductory paragraph.
