Questions: How did convict leasing operate and how did it get around the 13th Amendment? What were conditions like for convict laborers? Debt peonage was different (persons were not convicted of a crime however questionable the conviction may have been), but for the purposes of this assignment you may reference both convict laborers and debt peonage when discussing conditions.
