The purpose of this assessment is to:
Develop the ability in the learner to source, collect and analyse the qualitative and quantitative data to support decision making.
TASK/ASSIGNMENT
This is an individual assessment. You are required to source, collect and analyse qualitative and qualitative data using Observation, Interview, Focus Group Discussion, Survey Data or a combination thereof for a given problem or a Case Study. The qualitative data analysis will need to be a written analysis (Interview Outcomes, Observation Outcomes, and Discussion Outcomes) supported by relevant concept literature review whereas the quantitative data analysis will need to be in the graphs, charts, tables etc. supported by the detailed narration of what the data represents. The finalised data analysis report shall need to be submitted on Moodle under the appropriate submission link.
Marking criteria
This assessment item is worth 100 marks (15% of the weightage towards the final marks) and involves the quantitative and qualitative analysis of data.
Formatting requirements
There are no set criteria for the analysis. Be as creative and informative as you like.
Word limit
The recommended word count must be observed. Any piece of work, which exceeds the stipulated length by more than 10% could be penalised.
Referencing style
The APA 6th Edition reference style must be used when referencing.
Submission procedure
You must submit the completed work on Moodle under the appropriate submission link by the due date.
Case Study
COVID-19 has affected most of the countries and the businesses in the countries has affected due to the lockdown and implementation of social distancing procedures.
The businesses that depend on face-to-face interactions with their customers have taken some measures and have set up processes/systems to minimise the spread of Corona Virus. Otago Polytechnic Auckland International Campus and some small business around the campus also have taken initiatives to keep the places hygienic and create awareness among the staff, customers/students and its business partners.
The spread of COVID-19 has not been consistent across the countries and the individual initiatives they may have taken to control and manage the spread has been the main reason for the same. One of the website to go to for the real time information is https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ .
Task – You are required to use Observation and Internet Research using the website https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/ to produce a report to analyse on the current data of a particular country and the initiatives that you observe in Auckland, New Zealand. Your report must not exceed 2000 words and must have the following contents:
Data Sources Types: Give a write up on Primary vs Secondary Data including definition, sources and benefits
Data Analysis: Give a write up on Quantitative vs Qualitative Data analysing including definition, sources and benefits.
Observation Outcome: Observe and analyse the effectiveness of the initiatives taken by OPAIC and the small business around the campus to trace and control the spread of Corona Virus. You can support your narration with some photographs as evidence to support your narration.
Internet Research: Research and analyse the data of a given country using the above website and narrate what does your analysis show. You can contrast your country data analysis with other countries of your choice to support your arguments. Your trend analysis must have at least one Pie Chart, One Bar Graph and One Table to support your narration. The specific country allocated to each one of you are as per the following table:
