Mr. P is a 35-year-old Spanish-speaking man recently diagnosed with insulin dependent diabetes. Mr. P works nights at a local fast food restaurant and cares for his 8-year-old niece during the day. Mr. P has a close and extended family network, and many live in his place of origin—Puerto Rico. Mr. P attended school until the fifth grade in Puerto Rico.
Identify and discuss the educational and culture influences that may contribute to Mr. P’s low health literacy. Theorize how theses influences may affect Mr. P’s ability to understand and manage his health care.
This assignment will be graded individually according the rubric. Provide the results in a written report and submit on Blackboard.
