Classical states and societies, which flourished roughly between 500 B.C.E. and 500 C.E., were built on the social, economic, and political foundations of earlier complex societies. What features were common to the classical states and societies of Persia, India, China, Greece, and Rome? Explain the degree to which the differences between these regions were culturally determined? Did earlier settlement patterns affect their social and political evolution? Why did some states evolve into empires while others did not? In your analysis you may consider government administration, religion, trade & economics, social structure, and the military.
