Please answer these questions in a thoughtful manner, utilizing your own knowledge and what you may have learned from your recent introduction to the subject of death in the religious context. I am looking for a substantive paragraph or more for each question.

1. How did Jones manage to lure all these people in, to the point where they would follow him anywhere, and what form of transcendence might they have been envisioning which caused them to stay until the end?
2. Was this revolutionary suicide, or murder? Depending on your answer, describe what you think the motivation was, for Jones and/or the other participants, for committing this act.
3. Why didn’t more people leave Jonestown?
4. How could such a tragedy occur?
