• Review of all corporate IT assets, assigning ownership, and tracking status. This included 3rd party apps, home grown internal apps, and internally developed commercial applications.
• Identification of users and their access rights
• Monitoring and identification service accounts
• Data isolation based on principles of least privilege
• Legacy system conversion and/or sunset of application
• Review of authorization schemes for legacy applications
• Technical review of complex system architectures (documentation, interviews, walk throughs)
• Oversight and guidance on user access rights and separation of duties
• Archiving and versioning best practices
• Identification of security gaps. (E.g. lack of encryption on sensitive data)
• Review data governance and chain of custody
