Persuasive Research Essay – Freire, selection from “Pedagogy of the Oppressed”

HERE IS REQUIREMENTS (please read deeply)
Your essay must:
1. Refer to your author’s essay in every paragraph. Be in conversation with it
throughout your paper. You are speaking directly to this text and its claims.

2. Use material from two other text (Text’s 2 & 3). These can be newspaper, articles, book chapters, essays, or articles. You will need to articulate the argument of these texts in terms of how they respond to the same larger conversation as Text 1. You will use these texts to support your own argument.
You are not speaking directly to their claims, but rather using those claims to help you speak directly to Text 1’s claims.

3. Use material from one recent article from a peer-reviewed scholarly journal (Text 4).
The essay must have been published within the last ten years. As with Text 2, you will need to articulate the argument of this text in terms of how it responds to the same larger conversation as Text 1. You will use this article to support your own argument, insofar as that argument is a direct and continuous response to
Text 1.

4. Remember, all 4 of your texts must contribute to the same larger conversation in a relevant way. Your essay synthesizes the arguments of Texts 2, 3 and 4 as they respond specifically to Text 1 and support your own argument against/for/somewhere in the middle. Your text one serves as your “They Say.”
