Theoretical Connections

Using either Urie Bronfrenner’s Ecological Model or Abraham Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs, provide a complete profile for one of your two targeted children selected for your child portfolios. You must give a thorough description of each level/environment, and then provide at least two strong examples or evidence, specific to the child, to support the section.

For example, if using the Ecological Model, you would provide a short description of the concept of the microsystem, and then at least two examples/descriptions of this demonstrated through the child. Then, you would go on to describe the mesosystem and provide examples; exosystem; etc. If you choose to use the Hierarchy of Need, you would provide a short description of the most basic level, describe concrete examples of that level demonstrated through the child, and move up through the pyramid. For both theories, you MUST thoroughly describe and provide examples for each one (conjecture may be permitted as needed for Maslow’s). This means you may need to do some fact-finding and gather information about the child in order to fully portray the connection.
