Scenario:
You are the director of a childcare center for toddlers and preschoolers. One of the children, Judah, is a two-year-old with some developmental delays in language and motor skills. However, he appears to be in touch with his own feelings and can sort through them effectively. He also loves music and can spend long periods of time listening to it. You observe his teacher working with him and notice that her techniques, while sound, may not work as effectively for his circumstances. You and Judah’s teacher work on writing an action plan to better meet Judah’s current needs and to serve as a template for next year’s curriculum. Together you develop sample activities using a multiple intelligences perspective that would be appropriate for Judah’s multiple intelligences

  1. Write an action plan for differentiated instruction in a set of bulleted points. The action plan consists of an objective and a potential step to reach that objective. Your first objective will center on a sample activity that you create specifically for Judah from a multiple intelligences perspective. The box “Getting Started with Multiple Intelligences—Try These Ideas” may provide some inspiration. Briefly describe the objective of your activity, and then list two or three aspects of this activity.

    2. Be sure to read the SELF-EVALUATION section below to guide your thinking. Write your self-evaluation after you have completed your action plan.

    3. Review the assessment rubric to see how your assignment and self-evaluation will be graded.
