History Assignment

Students are required to write a 3-4 page double spaced paper on a chapter of your choice found in From Out of the Shadows.

Provide a discussion of what the chapter is about.
Provide at least three specific examples of women’s experiences during the era, and explain them.
Make a connection to the time period, and what you have learned about it from lecture and from the other required readings.
I encourage the use of quotes, but keep those quotes to 1-3 sentences long. A good rule of thumb is to not use more than 3 quotes per typed page. You want to use your own words for most of the paper.
This paper is not simply a summary, but a reflection. What is the overall point, what does it illuminate about the experience of Chicanas, and how does this fit into the larger time period as discussed in module material? Why is this material significant?
In your conclusion, you want to readdress the significance. What does what you read state about the vital and powerful role of Chicanas in that era? Explain. Your conclusion needs to be at minimum, 8 sentences long, but more is better.
