A Tale of Two Firms: Minnesota Business Analysis Paper

Choose two of the top 10 Minnesota business (in terms of revenue) listed below:

Obtain the most recent financial statements from the two businesses you chose, and in a four- to five-page paper, compare and contrast the financial health of the two businesses using the balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements. Integrate at least two financial ratios into your analysis, and compare the results to industry averages. Explain how you calculated each of the ratios. Also look for non-ratio information (innovations, acquisitions, pending litigation, etc.) to add value to the analysis. Use and cite at least two sources in addition to the websites of these two firms. (Hint: This means you will need a total of at least four sources cited.) One of the two additional sources may be a textbook. Please do not attach the financial statements to your papers, but ensure that the website for the statements is included in your reference page. This paper should be written exclusively in the third person.
A word of caution: This paper calls for YOUR analysis of the two firms based on what you have learned in this course so far. Do not use the analysis of an online expert. Demonstrate what you can glean from reading the statements and analyzing the ratios.
