For this project, I want to refresh my memories and improve on my childhood thoughts around the culture and the stories of Ancient Greece. In ancient Greece, important things were created that we still use today, such as democracy, politics, philosophy and theatre. And also, fashion. From the history of fashion apparels, fashion styles repeat itself. Ancient Greek culture has influenced modern fashion designers over and over. A cylindrical piece of cloth can be made into a dress and a top with a morphing neckline. A little black dress can be worn forward, or backward with caped sleeves. Cone shaped cloth converts to a shirt and skirt; reversible. Designer’s new muse captures ancient Greek beauty with elegant draped shapes to rival classically fluid forms.

With a flurry of ruffles, pleats, and drapes, Greek clothing displays a spectacular look in fashion shows. The most interesting aspect of Grecian clothing is that it can be twisted, tied, and wrapped to create different looks. Most common influences are motifs of Greek mythology on clothing, and jewelry.

Big brands such as Chanel, Dolce &Gabbana, Chloe has created collections inspired by ancient Greece. Through these collections you can see and appreciate the beauty of how simple and minimal the fashion was back then. During the Chanel Resort 2018 Collection, Karl Lagerfeld quoted “The criteria of beauty in ancient, then classical, Greece still hold true. There have never been more beautiful representations of women. Or more beautiful columns. The entire Renaissance, in fact, was based on antiquity. It is really about the youth of the world in all its power and unpredictability. “

Troy is a 2004 epic historical war drama movie. Based on Homer’s “Iliad,” this epic portrays the battle between the ancient kingdoms of Troy and Sparta. As I watched the movie the costumes of the movie are successfully worn and represented correctly to the culture. Which I will be influenced during my research.
