QUESTION
This study plan was updated on April 1, 2020. In the C850 course, please read Announcements, Tips and the Requirements.
Many students are NOT PASSING on their first attempt yet could, if they spoke with a Course Instructor first. Please review the updated study plan below. It’s helpful, but there’s much more that needs to be discussed than what’s shown here. Schedule an appointment by using the “schedule appointment” icon at the end of this email.
Welcome to C850 Emerging Technologies! This course makes use of a Case Study known as TechFite. You must write about TechFite to pass this course. To find this case study, go to the C850 course, go to the Assessments Section and click toward the right on the “blue” words that say VIEW TASK. On the next screen, scroll ALL THE WAY TO THE BOTTOM and you will see the TechFite document.
You will need to choose an emerging technology that will solve ONLY ONE of TECH FITE’s BUSINESS PROBLEMS, which is the purpose of writing a paper divided into separate parts. Again, YOU ONLY NEED TO SOLVE ONE PROBLEM.
The Parts referred to below come from C850 REQUIREMENTS. Go to the ASSESSMENTS section, click on VIEW TASK and on the next screen click on TASK OVERVIEW and PRINT OUT the REQUIREMENTS section which are given letters A through H. You must address the REQUIREMENTS to pass the course. Please PRINT THE REQUIREMENTS (deliberately repeated).
***** For Requirement B, you will also need to explain and justify why the technology you have chosen is an example of an emerging technology. Emerging does NOT mean it’s the most recent technology; it can be evolving or changing. Discuss your idea with your Course Instructor before writing the assignment through email at a minimum.
After choosing a technology, find a specific product by name and research it. Next, find at least one features about the product that makes it emerging. You can also perform a search on a given technology adding the words, “what makes it emerging.”
How to do a search – For example, if a product were named ABC, then do a search on ABC an emerging technology, ABC what makes it emerging and ABC why it’s an emerging technology.
Be sure to do the following when writing the paper:
1) Separate each part. Do not combine multiple parts together and label them “by bolding the parts” Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D, Part E and Part F. This makes it easier for the reader to know where each part begins and ends. Part G is the Sources Page and it must be the last page of the entire paper, on its own separate page, with nothing else included in it.
2) INDENT all paragraphs.
3) Use the APA writing style which requires both in-text citations within written paragraphs and a separate Source Page at the end of the entire paper on its own separate page.
4) There is no specific page count or word count. It usually takes 5 to 7 pages, excluding the cover sheet and the Sources page at the end, double-spaced, using 12 point, Times New Roman font.
5) Include a cover sheet with your name, the Course Name, C850 – Emerging Technologies, the assignment name – TechFite Case Study and a date.
6) For Part C – Explain the steps of the adoption process. See Requirement C in the C850 course. If you have questions, ask the Course Instructor.
7) For Part D it says, “Describe both a positive and a negative impact that your emerging technology solution could have on the people or current processes in the organization, PROVIDING EXAMPLES (note, more than one example, so a minimum of two) for how to address the negative impact. Many people are overlooking the requirement to provide a MINIMUM of 2 examples how to address the negative impact, meaning how to overcome it.
8) For Part E, it says, “Compare your emerging technology solution to an alternative technology solution, providing at least two (2) advantages and two (2) disadvantages that EACH TECHNOLOGY may have for the organization. Each technology has a total of four (4) parts to it, 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages and you must write about a total of two (2) separate technologies. Altogether, this will involve eight (8) parts for both technologies. Please proofread your assignment before submitting it to check that it meets these requirements, which often get overlooked. Thank you.
9) For Part F – For Part F, you must RECOMMEND A METHOD that can be used to determine whether adoption of the proposed emerging technology solution will be successful or unsuccessful, based on TechFite’s needs. A method is used to be able to measure metrics. Use the word “method and describe the method within the first two sentences of this section.
Examples of methods. What needs to be addressed are quantifiable measurements how to determine success after implementation, based on what was recorded previously for comparison. In other words, with physical fitness, you might switch from walking to riding a bicycle, so you can quantifiably measure the number of calories burned per hour and compare the two. Only choose one method.
ANSWER
A Study Plan for C850 Emerging Technologies Course
Introduction
The C850 Emerging Technologies course focuses on the application of emerging technologies to solve business problems. This study plan aims to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the course requirements and offer guidance to help them succeed. It is important to review the course announcements, tips, and requirements, as well as schedule an appointment with a Course Instructor for further discussion.
Understanding the Case Study
The course revolves around a case study called TechFite. To access the case study, navigate to the C850 course, go to the Assessments section, and click on “VIEW TASK.” Scroll to the bottom of the next screen to find the TechFite document (Roberts, n.d.).
Choosing an Emerging Technology and Problem
Students are required to select an emerging technology that addresses one of TechFite’s business problems. It is crucial to choose a specific problem and focus on solving it throughout the paper.
Reviewing the Requirements
To pass the course, it is necessary to address the requirements outlined in the C850 course. The requirements are divided into parts labeled A through H. To ensure clarity, print out the TASK OVERVIEW and the REQUIREMENTS section, which provides detailed information on each part.
Explaining Emerging Technology (Requirement B)
In Requirement B, it is essential to explain and justify why the chosen technology qualifies as an emerging technology. Emerging technology does not necessarily mean the latest technology; it can also refer to evolving or changing technologies. Before starting the assignment, discuss your idea with the Course Instructor via email.
Conducting Research
After selecting a technology, research a specific product related to it. Identify at least one feature that makes the chosen product emerging (McAuley & Yang, 2016). Utilize search engines and include the product name followed by phrases such as “emerging technology,” “what makes it emerging,” and “why it’s an emerging technology.”
Writing Guidelines
When writing the paper, adhere to the following guidelines
Separate each part by clearly labeling them as Part A, Part B, Part C, Part D, Part E, and Part Avoid combining multiple parts together.
Indent all paragraphs.
Follow the APA writing style, which includes in-text citations within paragraphs and a separate Source Page at the end of the paper on its own page.
There is no specific page or word count, but the average length ranges from 5 to 7 double-spaced pages, excluding the cover sheet and the Sources page. Use 12-point Times New Roman font.
Include a cover sheet with your name, the Course Name (C850 – Emerging Technologies), the assignment name (TechFite Case Study), and the date.
For Part C, explain the steps of the adoption process, referring to Requirement C in the C850 course.
In Part D, describe both a positive and a negative impact of your emerging technology solution on people or current processes in the organization. Provide a minimum of two examples of how to address the negative impact (Human Capital Development in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, n.d.).
In Part E, compare your emerging technology solution to an alternative technology solution. Provide at least two advantages and two disadvantages for each technology, resulting in a total of eight parts (four parts per technology).
For Part F, recommend a method that can be used to determine the success or failure of the proposed emerging technology solution based on TechFite’s needs. Choose one method that provides quantifiable measurements for post-implementation comparison with previously recorded data.
Conclusion
By following this study plan and understanding the requirements of the C850 Emerging Technologies course, students will be better equipped to write their papers successfully. Seeking guidance from the Course Instructor and conducting thorough research will contribute to a comprehensive and well-structured assignment. Remember to proofread the final submission to ensure compliance with the outlined requirements.
